Problem solving is the process of working through details of a problem to reach a solution. Problem solving may include mathematical or systematic operations and can be a gauge of an individual's critical thinking skills. (www.businessdictionary.com


Put them both together and you have a parent who is obsessive about solving their child’s addiction and anything else that is going on in their adult child’s life. A parent whose fear creates obsessive problem solving, often exaggerates the probability and the severity of the outcomes because their obsessive thinking creates stories in their head that they keep telling themselves and those stories may or may not be true.

Obsessive parenting is an exaggerated sense of responsibility to and for their adult child.
