I CAN . . .

                                         By: Donna M.

I am a Mother who became a member of a community that I never imagined that I would become a part of. I am a Mother who knows what it feels like to live in fear of my child dying and I am a Mother who knows what it feels like to mourn a child who is alive in active addiction.

·       I can talk to you about the sleepless nights.

·       I can talk to you about walking on eggshells

·       I can talk to you about the depression that sets in.

·       I can talk to you about becoming emotionally bankrupt.

·       I can talk to you about the anxiety and fear you will feel.

·       I can talk to you about the roles that family members take on.

·       I can talk to you about the constant ache you feel in your belly.

·       I can talk to you about addiction, codependency, enabling, healing and recovery.

I Am a Mother who knows that recovery is possible because my son has been in uninterrupted long term recovery from Heroin addiction since May 11, 2008 (Mother’s Day).

·       I can talk to you about self-care & self-love

·       I can talk to you about taking back your power

·       I can you to you about remembering to breathe.

·       I can talk to you about creating a living agreement.

·       I can talk to you about restoring your health, your sanity and your serenity.

I am a Survivor, I am a Warrior, and I am a Mother who isn’t ashamed to say “I Love My Son, a Person in Recovery”.
